Ceangail CIC, a social enterprise based in Stirling that provides practical training opportunities for young people, is delighted to announce that with the support from Hallam Land Management and Barratt Homes, their training programmes are now live for young people to apply to be part of.
Ceangail which delivers Stirling Highland Games and Summer Festival, the biggest cultural project in Stirling, encourages young people looking to get into employment to apply for a free place on the Into Events, Into Heritage or Into Digital training. Each programme offers training opportunities for up to 10 young people, providing a practical learning experience to develop transferrable skills needed for future employment.
Gary Smith, Director at Hallam Land Management explained, “We have a genuine interest in projects that support communities and the development of young people, providing opportunities and increasing chances of employment. We are therefore delighted to get behind Ceangail training academy programmes that have been supporting young people in the Forth Valley area since 2014. I am fully behind this social enterprise’s ethos of developing young people’s skillset in a practical learning environment and wish everybody involved great success.”
Ceangail specialises in project and event delivery and through their projects since 2014 have offered support to 120 young people including 227 volunteers, attracting almost 20,000 visitors to the event boosting the local Stirling economy by £1.2m. Graham, one of last year’s young people who has now secured employment said, “Before the course, I didn’t have much confidence talking to people and I was anxious meeting new people. After the placement, I found I had confidence in talking to people and overall felt a lot happier from gaining the skills from the course.”
David Scott, Managing Director, Barratt West Scotland said: “At Barratt Homes, we are committed to the training and development of young people across Scotland which is why we were thrilled to be involved in Ceangail ‘Into’ programmes.
“Through our own traineeship and apprenticeship programmes we can appreciate that young people learn a range of skills by being out on-site, organising events and getting hands-on experience and I know that young people will really benefit from these programmes.”
All candidates from this year’s training programme will finish their practical training on Saturday, August 17th as a member of the crew at the Stirling Summer Festival. This event attracts visitors from all over the world to enjoy its Creative Arts Festival, the Stirling Highland Games and the Food and Drink Festival. The young candidates are asked to mirror other more senior volunteers, developing those soft skills at their own rate as the day goes on.
